Mourning Christ (Michelangelo)
Michelangelo (March 6, 1475 - February 18, 1564, Pisces), an Italian sculptor, painter, poet and architect. Michelangelo was an outstanding sculptor, architect, painter and poet during the Renaissance period, along with Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael, known as the "Three Great Masters of Renaissance Art". He was renowned for his "athletic" figures, even depicting the muscular bodies of women. His sculptural work "David" is world-famous. The four statues "Day", "Night", "Morning" and "Evening" in front of the Medici tomb have novel concepts. Besides, his famous sculptures include "Moses", "The Great Slave", etc. His most famous painting works are the "Creation of Adam" ceiling painting and the mural "The Last Judgment" in the Vatican's Sistine Chapel. He also designed and initially constructed the St. Peter's Basilica in Rome and designed and built the tomb of Pope Julius II. The inspirer Michelangelo was temperamental and unsociable, and did not get along well with Leonardo da Vinci and Raphael. He often contradicted his patrons. However, throughout his life, he pursued the perfection of art and adhered to his own artistic ideas. Michelangelo was born in Florence's Republic of Caprese in 1475 and died in Rome in 1564 at the age of 88. His style influenced artists for almost three centuries.
