1. You can apply two thin layers of natural beeswax that has been dissolved in turpentine on the back of the canvas, which can completely prevent the invasion of humid air and cause damage.
2. Oil paintings should avoid long-term direct sunlight exposure because ultraviolet rays have a great destructive effect on colors, causing fading and color changes.
3. Oil paintings must not be pasted face to face. Avoid the adhesion of the pictures due to temperature increase, which may cause the loss of oil colors and damage to the picture.
4. When rolling up the oil painting, make the canvas face inward and the picture face outward. Roll an outer layer of paper tube and then wrap it with plastic cloth to prevent the picture from cracking.
5. The room where storing oil paintings should pay attention to ventilation and moisture prevention. Try to be far away from the bathroom and kitchen. Pay attention to preventing dust and smoke from damaging the canvas. The room should maintain a certain temperature and humidity. Wet paintings must be slowly dried in the shade. Do not expose them to direct sunlight. Otherwise, the picture is prone to fall off.
6. If dust accumulates on the wall-hung oil paintings, you can gently wipe them with a slightly damp clean cloth. If there is cooking oil on the surface of the oil painting, you can gently try to clean it with a slightly diluted soap water and clean water, then quickly use a sponge to absorb the water on the picture surface, and then use an electric fan to gently blow on the picture surface. If you encounter oil paintings with long history and cracks, you must use less water and perform local dry wiping. If you use professional varnish to maintain the oil paintings, before spraying the varnish, use a clean cloth to wipe the picture surface clean.
7. Generally, oil paintings can be preserved for two to three hundred years. However, with the passage of time, some oil paintings may develop cracks after several decades. If there are many collections, you can wrap the oil paintings with plastic cloth and put them in a wooden box to prevent hard damage.
